Forensic Science Centre of Lithuania (FSCL) is a governmental institution of public administration. Its main task is to carry out forensic examinations required by courts and other pre-trial investigation institutions.
The main activities of FSCL are:
- Forensic examinations;
- Research and methodical work;
- Training of experts and recognition of qualifications.
Currently there are 35 types of examinations performed in 8 departments. The institution is accredited according to LST EN ISO/IEC 17025 standard for 27 forensic science methods. Accreditation status means that FSCL has developed and successfully operates internationally recognized quality policy and management system, which covers all processes in the institution.
FSCL has broad collaborative relations with Lithuanian and foreign forensic institutions. Since 1995 it has been a member of European network of Forensic Science Institution (ENFSI) and since 2008 - a member of Baltic States Forensic Institution Association.
